What unites these seven very different celebrities is their involvement with charities and community programmes. All the proceeds from these auctions are for the benefit of participating charities, Papillon Foundation and Matla a Bana; bidorbuy will waive its usual selling commission, which can be up to five percent.

Last year, celebrities raised over R56,000 for charities by auctioning off their time on bidorbuy.

“We expect that the half a million people-strong bidorbuy community of registered users will make this, 2010 Celebrities for Charities event a memorable one too”, says bidorbuy CEO Jaco Jonker. “The auctions are open from 20 to 30 July. We call on all bidders to show their generosity, to place a bid for their favourite celebrity and in that way help raise much needed funds for worthy causes.”
