First iPhone 6 Sold on bidorbuy

(16 September 2014) On 16 September at about 8 o’clock, the first iPhone 6 was sold on South African online marketplace for R16,499.

The first sale occurred within hours of the listing going live on the site. The seller, who goes under the user name onlinebargains, listed ten units of Apple’s newest offering, iPhone 6 in the 16GB variant. The remaining nine units are available on bidorbuy until midnight of 16 October – unless they get snatched up before that.

“First iPhone 6 already sold on @bidorbuy_co_za, albeit at a hefty premium. Some just got to have it now”, tweeted the bidorbuy CEO Jaco Jonker soon after the first sale occurred.

Of course, the early adopters will still have to wait until 25 September to get their hands on the device, as the seller specified in the listing.

Apple announced that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will launch in eight countries on 19 September, and twenty more countries on 26 September. However, it is not known when the two iPhone 6 devices will be available in South Africa through the official channels.
