(23 September 2014) As part of ongoing efforts to improve the safety and security of online shoppers, www.bobshop.co.za has extended its Buyer Protection Programme to give buyers an additional peace of mind by covering practically all purchases made on the site.

"In a gist, we as a company take it upon ourselves to make things right for every buyer in the unlikely event that the seller does not ship the item purchased on the site, or ships an item that is materially different", says Bob Shop CEO Jaco Jonker.

The amount of protection ranges from R1000 to 100%, depending on the purchase and seller. The least amount of coverage, up to R1,000, is offered for non-verified and international sellers. Purchases from verified sellers are covered up to R5,000 and purchases from stores up to R12, 500. Items purchased from Bob Shop¿s popular Deal of the Week section enjoy a 100% protection.

"Our Buyer Protection Programme is designed to cover the average basket value on Bob Shop," says Jaco Jonker and adds: "That means that all items purchased on the site, whether on auction or at a fixed price, will have some form of Buyer Protection, providing that the buyer paid using one of the Bob Shop payment options. These payment options currently include: credit card, EFT, cash deposit, Discovery Miles, bobBucks, and PayLater".

Excluded from the Buyer Protection Programme are specific categories which are usually listed in the classified format and which require some kind of face-to-face interaction between the seller and the buyer, such as: cars; bikes, boats and other vehicles; property; services; and businesses and websites for sale.

"The new Buyer Protection Programme is part of our ongoing endeavours to ensure that buyers find on Bob Shop not only a wide selection of products at reasonable prices, but that they also enjoy a complete peace of mind. We are confident that these improvements will go a long way towards making the site even more safe and secure", says Jaco Jonker.
