Samsung Galaxy Note 3The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was released in the second half of 2013 after the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4. Following on from the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, with increased success, the Note 3 was among the first of the larger phablet devices which have effectively shifted the public to use a device which combines their phone and their tablet. This begs the question, more than sheer screen size, what does the Note 3 offer which the ordinary smart phone cannot, more importantly, why would I switch to using such a big phone?

What makes the Note 3 different from the other phones released in 2013 is the sheer size of it. The phablet was still a very niche sector of the market, but things have changed rapidly following the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The increased screen size gives users an entirely new range of functionality, watching You Tube videos, playing games and web browsing on-the-go is much easier. To add to that, the top end components actually allow you to do all of this, and more. And then there’s the stylus… some critics are not yet convinced, but this stylus makes taking down notes on a phone possible for the first time.

At the time it was released, the Note 3 was the fastest phone on the market. As with many of Samsung’s previous devices, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has constructed an entirely new set of benchmarks for the industry.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Pioneered:

  • The first USB 3.0 port for quick charging, also backward compatible with micro USB
  • The longest lasting and biggest battery at the time of release
  • 3GB RAM
  • Quad-core processors

2 Years on, times have changed; the Note 3 still holds its own amongst its competitors. Even though the end of 2014 saw the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, its predecessor is still a serious contender in the race for the best phablet largely due to the sizeable drop in price. This makes owning a Note a reality for those who struggle to muster the cash. Those who can muster the cash though would be well advised to get their hands on the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4!
