The Princess Project Auctions on bidorbuy

bidorbuy continues the tradition of helping charities and non-profit organisations raise funds on this online trading platform.

evening gowns(1 July 2015) Bidding for fourteen beautiful evening gowns, each designed by a renowned fashion designer or worn by a local celebrity, is heating up on South African online marketplace

All proceeds from these auctions, which are organised to mark the release of the new Afrikaans-language film, Hollywood in my huis, are earmarked for the non-profit organisation The Princess Project SA.

Established in 1996, Princes Project actively seeks out pre-owned evening outfits and gives them to under-privileged matriculants. That way, girls who would have otherwise stayed home for the lack of a suitable gown get the opportunity to attend their once-in-a-lifetime matric dance.

The bidorbuy auctions feature a stunning figure-hugging blue velvet dress donated by the singing sensation Lira, designed by Gert-Johan Coetzee; a lovely pink evening gown with blue and gold pattern worn by South African born international model Katryn Kruger; two fabulous hot-off-the-runway dresses from designer Joel Janse Van Vuuren; a one-of-a-kind evening dress designed by Gideon and donated by South African beauty Jo-Ann Strauss; plus many more.

Two of the stars of the movie Hollywood in my huis, presenter Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp and actress and author Leandie du Randt, have also donated dresses to the auction, along with the dress that features in the film itself.

Currently, the short black cocktail dress with satin skirt and black lace top, designed by Kobus Rautenbach and worn by Leandie du Randt, seems to be the most popular. It attracted as many as eight bidders who pushed its price to R651. Since the Princes Project SA auctions run until Wednesday 8 July, there is still of time to place bids and help Princess Project raise funds.

“We are pleased that our platform was chosen for this set of auctions”, says bidorbuy CEO Jaco Jonker. “As is tradition on bidorbuy, we will not be charging the seller any success fees. That way, 100 percent of the proceeds will go for the fund raising purposes of this non-profit organisation.”
