Brass instruments are wind musical instruments where sound is produced by vibration of the lips as the player blows into a tubular resonator. Traditionally, brass instruments are made of brass, but a few specialty brass instruments are made from wood. Modern brass instruments generally belong to the valved (trumpet, French horn, tuba, cornet) or slide family (the trombones). Brass instruments are one of the major classical instrument families and are played across a range of musical ensembles.
