The shining green tsavorite is a young gemstone, discovered in 1967 the East-African bushland along the border between Kenya and Tanzania and several years later in inland Kenya. It is a green grossularite and comes from the colourful gemstone family of the garnets. Its vivid, radiant green includes a spring-like light green, an intense blue-green and a deep forest green. Like all garnets, tsavorite sometimes called tsavolite - has great brilliance. A cut tsavorite of more than two carats is a rare and precious thing, but this gemstone can display great luminosity even in small sizes.
