.... a very neat locomotive, of the original British Railways administration, bears insignia of a red lion(?) holding a railway wheel over a crown, all in a circle preceded by a framed BRITISH and succeded by a framed RAILWAYS. My investigations in Wikipedia free encyclopedia came up with this being a British Class 31 Diesel Engine as built by Brush Traction from 1957 - 1962. The green British Railway livery, with yellow warning panels front and rear, plus the use of the "old" emblem (and not the 'double arrow') leads me to believe that it must be the model of a Class 31 in its original fashion as in use before 1962 when "British Rail" was sponsored and the 'double arrow' emblem was introduced. I do, however, stand to correction by anyone with a more intimate knowledge of the rather convoluted British Rail(ways) subject.
