Offered on this auction is this beautifully illustrated Miniature “Potjie” Pot Souvenir of Durban, South Africa.
In South Africa a “Potjie” is traditionally a three-legged cast iron pot used to cook food on an open fire.
This Pot has 4 legs and is decorated with a picture of the Durban Town Hall and some ethnic painting. It has a Gilded floral pattern around the side and is finished in Gold Trim on the feet, handles and rim.
This Pot has a diameter of 6 cm, including its handles, and stands 5 cm tall.
This Pot is in EXCELLENT CONDITION.
There are no chips, cracks or restorations (see photos).
The colours are full bodied.
The gilding is slightly rubbed in places.
