SA's Medallic History: BARTHOLOMEU DIAZ AT KWAAIHOEK (1488) : Sterling Silver Medal

It is here that Bartolomeu Dias erected the Padrão de São Gregório, his first Padrão, or stone cross on 12 March 1488.
This huge medal was minted in Sterling Silver (92.5% pure silver) and coated in 24 carat gold. It is 45 mm in diameter and weighs approx. 40 grams.
