Vintage German Mylflam Semiautomatic Table Lighter with map of SA. Founded in Offenbach in the early 1900s by Heinrich Maltner, Mylflam lighters were produced from 1930 until 1976. Patented by Maltner in 1933, this German table light features a unique push-button firing mechanism. Just push the chrome button on top of the lighter and it lights. The snuffer will snap-open quickly, igniting the wick in a single motion. Once lit, simply close the snuffer with your finger to extinguish the flame and reset the firing mechanism. Flint and fluid are both added from the base. These distinctive table lighters were quite popular in their time and produced before and after World War 2. I believe this piece was made post-War in the late 1940s. The lighter is chromed with enameled printing of the map. The chrome is tarnished, but with fuel, the lighter should work (it sparks when button pushed). A great find for the collector.
