Some History.......
As popular now as it was when first designed by Harold Holdcroft in 1962 Old Country Roses was inspired by the English roses in full summer bloom. Little did Holdcroft realize that he was creating what would become one of the most recognized and celebrated fine bone china dinnerware patterns in the world. OCR dinnerware is truly one of a kind! The pure white bone china features a “Montrose” shape – a flamboyant, curvaceous traditional fluted design with twisting, curling handles that makes a beautiful table setting. Old Country Roses’ signature clusters of red, pink and yellow roses, offset by brilliant stippled gold rims and accents epitomizes the essence of fine English tableware…….. traditional, feminine, floral & Victorian. The result is a pattern that sits perfectly within any style of décor – from the very traditional to modern, shabby-chic.
This range of English bone china tableware from Royal Albert is renowned the world over, with more than 100 million pieces produced and sold. The Harold Holdcroft inspired Old Country Roses (OCR) was launched in 1962. Originally planned to be called Treasure Garden, Harold Holdcroft, Royal Albert's Art Director, based his design on the 1921 pattern King's Ransom.
