Old World & South African Bank Note Collection (Spanning over 100 years)
The international lot consists of mainly banknotes brought back by a South African soldier after the Second World War but there are notes that date from after WW2 and also much earlier notes going back to the possibly the USA Civil War period (see first picture of both sides of last mentioned note).
The South African notes consist of a Jan van Riebeeck collection of R1, R2, R5 and R10 notes (29 in total) of the previous centaury.
I have scanned all of the notes in bunches as they were stored – the last picture shows all.
Please note that some of the notes are in bad condition whilst others are in better condition – so truly a mixed hoard that begs for some closer inspection & research.
