Dala Golden Taklon Round Brush (Series 756)
Round: a brush with the bristles curving into the center at the ends, excellent for control and accuracy. Professional synthetic hair suitable for fine work in Oil, Acrylic & Gouache.
While bristle brushes are satisfactory for most heavy body paints, water colours, inks and thinner paints require a gentler brushstroke to spread the colour. In the past, natural hairs like sable, pony, ox or camel, were used to manufacture fine brushes. Their greater accuracy also meant that they could be used for detail with heavier paints (like oils and acrylics, which usually need to be thinned down a little.) Natural hairs are now more rare, more 'protected', and very expensive. This is why they have been replaced by synthetic brushes, particularly by TAKLON, a form of nylon.
The 7 series is the artist quality GOLDEN TAKLON (slightly firmer) range. Here there are 4 types, namely the 756 Round, the 759 Flat, the versatile 757 Filbert, and the useful 758 Angled. The angled brushes are ideal for people working on a table surface rather than at an easel, where a flat brush would be more effective. As the golden taklon hairs are firmer, they are ideal for detail in oils, gouache and acrylics.
As Dala obtains the brushes directly from the manufacturers rather than distributors, the entire brush range is still very economically priced. Effective cleaning and brush care will ensure that taklons will last longer than natural hair brushes, which means that they are even very affordable for budget conscious education facilities.
