DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION
DESCRIPTIONSouth African international cricket was in isolation for 21 years (from 1970 - 1991) due to being banned from playing international cricket by the international cricket board. After re - admission the name of our national cricket team was changed from Springboks to Proteas and the first test was played against India. The 1994 tour to England  provided the big opportunity for South Africa to again play a test at the 'Home of Cricket' - the MCC Lord's Ground in London and show it's worth. The test took place from 21 to 24 July and the Proteas thrashed the England team by winning with 356 runs. It was our 4 seam bowlers (we had no spinner in the test) that won the game. The English batsmen had no answer to our devastating bowling attack and England's captain, Michael Atherton, called it the worst test ever played under his captaincy. THE ITEM ON AUCTION HERE IS A GREAT PIECE OF MEMORABILIA OF THAT FIRST TEST AGAINST ENGLAND ON LORDS AFTER RE - ADMISSION. IT IS A COLOUR PHOTOGRAPH OF THE 2 PARTICIPATING TEAMS WITH THE SIGNATURES OF EVERY PLAYER AND THE MANAGEMENT. The item is titled, mounted and framed (with non - reflective glass protection). The framed item is large (it measures 40 x 68 cm) and the photograph with signatures measures 30 x 58 cm. You can see the item on auction here in the image above and there are more images with descriptions which follow. Have a good look at them and, if there is anything you are unsure about, please ask a question.
CONDITIONThis item of cricket memorabilia is in excellent condition and is just waiting for you to hang it in the lapa, bar or boardroom. Some of the images may appear grainy because the photographs were taken through non - reflective glass.
NOTES
A very scarce item of South African cricket memorabilia with signatures of 14 South African International cricket players, some of them legends as well as those of all the England cricket players and the management of both teams (total 33 signatures). A lovely collector's piece and memorabilia of what is regarded by many as the best test ever played by a South African cricket team. This is also a great investment item.

The signatures of the players in the English team and their management. All signatures are in pencil, because pencil (graphite) does not fade in time as ink does.
Protea players
The signatures of the players in the South African (Proteas) team and their management. All signatures are in pencil, because pencil (graphite) does not fade in time as ink does. The South African players were: Kepler Wessels (c), Dave Richardson (v/c), Hansie Cronje, Daryll Cullinan, Fanie de Villiers, Alan Donald, Andrew Hudson, Gary Kirsten, Peter Kirsten, Craigh Matthews, Brian MacMillan, Jonty Rhodes, Tim Shaw and Richard Snell.
Some Proteas signatures
A close - up of some of the signatures of Protea players. Note Hansie Cronje's signature. The photograph is grainy because it was taken through non - reflective glass.
