World class by any measure you may care to apply - this is an extraordinary Morganite, and I doubt that there is a finer specimen in South Africa. The cut is a tour de force, and was executed by a master of his art.

This museum grade Morganite is quite simply as good as they get, and it has been a privilege for me to own it, and to gaze upon it, as I have so many times. The poor image does not even begin to portray the absolute magnificence of this astonishing gemstone.

Now it is time for another to enjoy its sublime beauty....

Morganite

Morganite is also known as Pink Beryl, Yellow Beryl, Rose Beryl, Pink Emerald and Cesian Beryl. Morganite was first recognized as a distinct variety when specimens were first discovered in Madagascar in 1910. The Pink Beryl was named after J.P. Morgan, the American financier and gemstone collector.

Morganite is a gem that is much in demand, and commands very high prices on the International gem markets. It is a hard and durable stone with a pastel color that ranges from clear pink to a lovely peach. If it reminds you of the beauty of Emerald, that's not surprising since they are the same mineral.
