VINTAGE BOLEX PAILLARD UNDERWATER HOUSING
For the H-16 movie camera in the original Oregon pine box with accessories
Swiss made - Circa late 1950's - early 1960's

This camera housing was introduced in 1955 to accommodate the H-16 for underwater filming. The unit was watertight down to depths of 330 ft.
Three controls were located on the outside for the operation of the lens diaphragm, motor winding and camera release.
The device was equipped with a parallax corrected viewfinder and originally supplied with two diaphragm collars: one for a Switar 10mm f/1.6 and the other for either Switar 16mm f/1.8 or Yvar f/2.8 lenses.
Later versions were available with diaphram collars to support H-8 and RX lenses.
Weight, out of water and without camera was 22lbs; 4 1/2 lbs while submerged. It sold for $430.00 US in a 1958 retail price list.

The housing is in good condition, with some paint loss and slight corrosion on the lid.
The seal seems to be in good shape and with a bit of a service I'm sure it will operate perfectly.
It comes in the original Oregon pine box with the accessories as pictured.
It is not often that one of these housings finds its way onto the market, so do not miss this opportunity!
One can only imagine where this camera has been and perhaps it even had a role to play in groundbreaking underwater film making during the 1950's and 60's!
Please have a look at the images to verify age and condition and please ask any questions you may have.
Due to the size and weight, we will ship ordinary mail, insured, and the housing will be very well packaged.
Personal collection or courier collection welcome. If courier collection, a packaging fee of R60.00 will apply.
