Look at the detail on this watercolour. You don't see this quality of work on Bidorbuy often.
Unsigned, and looks very much to be an unsigned cut down part of a large watercolour by William Russell Flint, who enjoyed painting Italian peasant women in this sideways looking pose. Tell tale signs of his work include the detailing on the dress and head shawl, the exquisite detailing on the necklace, bubbles, and foot.
The Pre-Raphaelite school of painting saw imitation of nature as central to the purpose of art. They tried to turn art back to the principles prevalent before Raphael: the abundant detail, intense colours, and complex compositions of Italian Quattrocento art.
There is slight foxing on the paper, but this does not interfere with the enjoyment of the work. Very nicely framed with the frame having a hairline crack at the base.
Will be posted without glass to protect the painting. Secure packaging and tracked postage is R80.
