| DESCRIPTION | These magazines are so cute and retro! They have illustrations of husband and wife working together in and around their home to build all sort of things from bookshelves to washing machines. Hubby (looking very decent) works in shirtsleeves while smoking and his wife (cutely dressed and made up) interrupts her work periodically to fetch tea and cookies for her husband and idol. How quaint those pre-television and Internet days were! These are thick magazines (about 110 pages each) and each one covers about a dozen restoration and construction projects, editorial content, reader's letters and lots of adverts. There are also very many illustrations. 'THE PRACTICAL HOUSEHOLDER' was published in the UK in the 1950s and 1960s and there were special editions for the colonies, such as the 4 on offer here which were produced for South Africa.
