LARGE SMOKY QUARTZ (3,85 carats) AND 10 DIAMOND YELLOW GOLD RING. FROM ENGLAND. BIRMINGHAM ASSAY!
This solid yellow gold ring heralds from England, specifically the jewellery quarter in the English Midlands - Birmingham. It features a square faceted smokey quartz that has been square faceted and totals 3,85 carats. The central stone is enhanced by 10 small diamonds, 5 on either side of the ring head. It has been fully hallmarked in there different places. The main hallmarks show the jeweller mark, 375 for 9 carat gold and the Birmingham Assay office. The date-mark is a little indistinct but it appears to be the mark for 1983. A second hallmark (above right) repeats the gold mark as 9k and there is a third hallmark on the other side of the shank I really can't make out! Its a simple and elegant piece of jewellery!
