An attractive card for the (m/s) " Internment Camp of the interned officers of Germany and Austria", neatly written by Otto Day to Mrs A . Florence of Berlin, Piet Retief & Balfour.
The cover is distressed, open on 3 3/4 sides, ragged edges and considerable age tone and soiling.
The flap is missing.
The postal history:
Addressed to Mrs Florence.
Unfranked - prisoners of war & internees had allowance of cost free mail
PASSED BY CENSOR in Crowned oval in black.

POST RETIEF SOUTH AFRICA 9 JAN 15, transit c.d.s.
it would then have been forwarded on to Balfour ( no postmarks for that, just m/s endorsement to the address.
An exceptional item of WWI prisoner of war / internee interest with very good local domestic postal history.
