Description
This jug demonstrates the Gaudy Welsh style produced in Staffordshire, England, by Charles Allerton in the 1920's. The style was characterised by the use of a cobalt blue under glaze, pink lustre (which appears as a copper tone when applied onto the cobalt blue surface) and russet. The backstamp shown was introduced circa 1912 and used until the 1930's.
Condition
It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration noted. There is a some typical crazing commensurate with age.

This Allertons Toby Jug is 8.5 cm handle to spout and 9.5 cm high.
