Italian Vetterli 9 inch Bayonet without Scabbard.
This was taken from an Italian captured in Abbasinia during the Second World War by a South African Soldier.
"This is a originally a sword bayonet used from the period 1871 into WWII (with modifications) and was originally designed to fit the Italian Model 1870 Vetterli Bolt-Action Single-Shot Infantry Rifle". Copied from internet.
The markings are shown in the photo and are TA with a recessed crown above it and an A with a recessed B on the cross bar. On the other side of the blade it has two markings shown in the bottom insert and an the cross bar is the number DF 9104.
This is bayonet has a 9 inch (23.7cm.) blade and has Bakelite on the pommel.
It is still in a very good condition.
