Aloe Jacksonii

1 rooted off set Postage Code 1

Origin: Ethiopia

Aloe jacksonii is a small clumping Aloe species with fleshy blue-green leaves on short, rambling stems. The leaves usually have some white spotting and flecking present, and the margins are edged with white teeth. This is a very easy species to grow and is relatively fast to establish in pots or in the landscape.

The flower spikes have reddish flowers with yellow tips.

Position: sun or semi-shade

This aloe is very drought tolerant, but looks better when watered regularly during its growing season.

Keep on the dry side during winter.

Information about our aloes:

All species of Aloe (except forA. vera) appear on CITES Appendices, meaning that trade in aloes is controlled to prevent utilisation that would be incompatible with their survival.

All the Aloes we sell are grown from seed and have been propagated from nursery stock for over 10 years. The Aloes are specifically grown with conservation in mind. Included in the selection is also very unique hybrids. Seed was hand pollinated and grow and the plants named after 3 years. Many of the named hybrids are 2nd or 3rd generation, meaning seed was taken from the first hybrid and again planted to enhance certain characteristics.

Wholesale queries are very welcome.

Why Aloes? Because we love rare and threatened plants, but also because aloes are evergreen, often flower mainly in winter and the flowers attracts sun birds. The species also comes in a huge range of growth habits, from low growing to tree size plants. Many change leaf colour to a light maroon in winter as well and they seldom need water.

Many Aloes are also able to survive anywhere in SA as they can handle -5C or even -10C.

So if you are looking for a low maintenance, easy, stunning winter flowering evergreen, landscape plant or a pot plant your kids won't kill due to neglect, then take a look at the Aloes we have.
