An African at Mafeking. Sol Plaatjes was present in the Siege of Mafeking during the Anglo-Boer War; he served as a court interpreter and the journal he kept is the only known Black narrative describing this period. It was discovered 70 years later and edited by John L. Comaroff. First edition hardcover with dust jacket published by Macmillan, 1973. 165 pages with footnotes. Illustrated throughout.
