This is a very old leather suitcase and clearly well-traveled.
The previous owner tells me that it has been in her family, and that it survived, the Anglo Boer War, which was from 1899-1902.
Despite its age and apparent wear, all the stitching and corner protection are intact with only the handle showing some damage and the lining could do with a bit of attention. There is also no key for the locks.
It is sure to outlive most modern suitcases with at least another century.
This is a wonderful suitcase and a great find for any collector of vintage luggage.
