This genuine Royal Doulton Commemorative Loving Cup was manufactured / issued in 1935. It was designed by Charles Noke (the Art Director at Royal Doulton) AND Harry Fenton (a highly accomplished Modeller and whose signature often appears with Noke's). Please read more at www.collectingdoulton.com under "Loving Cups"; and you will also see this specific item listed there. It commemorates Lord Nelson (Horatio Nelson, 1758-1805). This Loving Cup, with its ropes and pulley blocks (block and tackle) handles, shows scenes from the Battle of Trafalgar: Lord Nelson on board his flagship "Victory", with "ENGLAND EXPECTS" printed below; and a longboat rescuing sailors from the sea whilst two ships are engaged in battle; with "T-WAS IN TRAFALGAR BAY" printed below. It has 2 (two) handles; and magnificent raised detail. A Loving Cup is a shared drinking container, traditionally used at Weddings and Banquets. This item is world class / thick quality and weighs around 2kg. The size is approximately: 26,5cm high x 26cm wide (handle to handle) x 17,5cm wide (at the top opening, without the handles) x 17cm wide (underneath / at the base). It is Signed by both "Noke" and "H. Fenton", as can be seen in the photos. THIS MAGNIFICENT PIECE IS A LIMITED EDITION ITEM (No. 163 of 600), WHICH SHOULD NOT BE MISSED!
