DESCRIPTION:
An early 20thC Chinese Imari glazed porcelain large wall plate, hand decorated with
a pair of Asiatic Pheasants perched in a gnarled tree covered with blossoms,
and five peonies in full bloom on a black ground, within a floral and foliate
border on a yellow ground. The Wucai "five coloured" palette was developed
during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and contains hand-painted under-glaze
blue, red to pink, orange, yellow and green enamels outlined in black.
MARKS:
Ground off reign mark, with remnant of red bordered paper label.
CONDITION:
No chips, cracks or crazing, with original metal, wire sprung mounts.
DIMENSIONS:
An impressive 41cm in diameter X 4.5cm in height.
