DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION
DESCRIPTION

A COPPER BUGLE AND A BRASS HUNTING HORN SOLD TOGETHER. Both are old, both have been bashed around and dented a bit and both do not have mouth pieces. They are shown above and 8 more images follow which further describe them.

CONDITIONBoth instruments have no mouthpieces. They have dents on them but no significant wear. They have not been cleaned because I believe that most buyers would want them to have the patina and oxidation of many decades, but they should both clean up very well. The brass hunting horn has two holes in the bell pipe and will probably not work unless they are plugged (indicated in an image below). The lovely old and solid copper bugle should work if it has a mouthpiece.
NOTES

Beautifully decorative and collectable. Whilst the hunting horn is probably more ornamental than for real use, the bugle saw many years of use in a military or other brass band. Two very nice old instruments.

NOTE THAT THE 2 ITEMS ARE SOLD TOGETHER IN ONE LOT.

Bugle with a match box.
The copper bugle shown with a match box to give an idea of relative size. It is a nice heavy one made of thick plate and it weighs 572 g. Old and well patinated and probably  19th century & of military origin. It obviously had a lot of use and has several shallow dents which lends to it's antiquity. There are no markings on it. The bell opening is reinforced with a brass cover & there is also brass strengthening over the back bend and two brass sleeves at the pipe connections. There is also a brass loop attached to it (to attach a carry belt).

From the other side
The copper bugle seen from the other side.

Bell opening
The front with bell opening. Note the brass reinforcement (decoration) at the opening.

from the back
Seen from the back. Note that there is no mouthpiece.

Brass horn

The brass hunting horn shown with a matchbox to give an idea of relative size. The horn is made of thinner plate than the bugle and is probably more ornamental than for use. It weighs 182 g and there are no markings on it.

The horn seen from the other side. Note that there are two holes in the pipe which go through the other side as well (marked with red arrows).

The back side

The back of the hunting horn. Note that the mouthpiece is lacking.

Bell opening

The bell opening is very large in relation to the size of the instrument.
