Widely embraced as one of the, truly, rarest gemstones on the face of this Earth,
Ammolite is a uniquely fossilized remnant of the Ammonite Sea Creature that can be found
exclusively throughout Alberta's Rocky Mountain area and other dwindling sites
across North America.

Part of what makes these stones so unique, as well as their scarce deposits, is
the fact that they are organic gemstones, just like pearls or ivory, only so fragile
that they need to be mined by hand and moved around with the utmost of care.

The Ammolite then needs to be cut by only the most disciplined of
professionals in order to produce an item of precious gemstone quality, without
allowing it to shatter in the process

This Beautiful  Ammolite is 100% natural.

Flash Colours: Orange red, yellow & green

This very beautiful Ammolite is starting at only R490-00

Ammolite is one of my favourite gemstones. No other gems (except possibly Opals),  come in such a range of colours and patterns or have such vivid iridescence. Ammolite is formed in Alberta, Canada from the shells of extinct ammonites and is a very rare gem.
If you have never seen ammolite, please note that it is almost always on gray shale. In other words, one side is gem and the other side is shale.

Ammolite is also highly reactive to light. The light source, the angle and intensity of the light, and your viewing angle will all impact the colours seen. As you turn the stone, it can go completely dark or completely explode into colour.

Ammolite is soft, like opal and composed of aragonite, like pearls. Like opals and pearls, ammolite needs some tender, loving care.

Ammolite is one of the most wonderful gems, full of flash and fire and just about any colour you can think of. Each piece of ammolite is unique and different. If you fall in love with a stone, buy it. You will never find another one exactly like it again!

It is best to set Ammonites in wire jewellery to prevent damage to the surface.
