DESCRIPTION | A few weeks ago week I listed a copy of THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE on the Crazy Wednesday auction and I was pleasantly surprised about the reaction and many viewings it got. It appears that there are actually a lot of people who are interested in Shakespeare and want to have a reference copy of his works on their bookshelves. So there are actually some culture vultures out there and not everybody spends all their time watching WWI on E-tv! As a result of the obvious demand for Shakespeare's work I have decided to list another copy of his Complete Works on Crazy Wednesday. It is the TUDOR EDITION published in 1960 (September reprint) by COLLINS, England. It contains complete works of William Shakespeare (the plays and the poetry) plus an introduction by the Editor (Peter Alexander), the preliminary matter to the first folio, a text on recent developments in Shakespeare scholarship, an appendix on the printings of Shakespeare's works and a glossary with 2500 entries. The book is very nicely and attractively bound in dark green cloth with an impressed title in gilt on the the spine. It has 1376 pages in total. This is a reasonably 'no frills' edition with no illustrations, but very complete and very well and tightly bound in a typical English block binding The image above shows the front of the dust wrapper of the book. More images below further illustrate the book. |
CONDITION | The book is in good condition. It has a nice unworn and tight binding and is complete with the original dust wrapper which is still lovely and bright and has only one chip at the bottom of the spine panel. There is a name written (small and inconspicuous) on the front free end paper as well as tape marks on the free endpapers. Generally this book is very presentable - please also use the images as reference to condition. |
A lovely and presentable book. No person of culture is without a copy of the complete works of William Shakespeare on his bookshelf and here is a very nice example. The complete reference to the works of the Bart with additional information. Go for It! |
The cloth bound boards and spine with title (as it is under the dust wrapper).
