This is a 2 Recce Commando, 1st type - metal flash (Facing left).

These flashes were worn from 1974 to 1983.

This is a certified ORIGINAL and AUTHENTIC item. This is not a re-strike.

The profile image you see, is the badge you will receive.

This specific flash belonged to the late Maj Willy Ward.

I received this flash mounted to the old type "para company" nutria cloth flash backing for wear on the nutria fielddress fatigue.

2 Recce and Recce HQ (pre 1993) flashes never existed in rubber (tupperware). They were only in metal. This is why some of their metal flashes were mounted onto a nutria cloth or rubberised backing.

Maj Willy Ward was a co-founding member of Hunter Group & 2 Recce in the 1960/70`s and also achieved his HCS, while part of Bravo Group (later known as 32 Battalion).

As you can see below, the ivory colouring in the white partition is natural matured and evenly spread. This is due to the ageing effect of the white enamel. After more than 16 years since issued, all the authentic black/white flashes should have an ivory effect by now. The degree of the ivory effect will depend on the light exposure through the years.

(Some Info: When collecting single flashes, always go for the left facing flash. A left facing {left shoulder} design is always the initial design that was approved. The right facing flashes {right shoulder} are manufactured a mirror image of the left flash. On the pre 1993 - black/white flashes, it is only the 2 Recce that had opposite {left/right} facing flashes. All the other Recce flashes were neutral flashes, facing forward to the viewer.)

Please take note: The "D" bid is not always the same bidder. The letter "D" will reflect on the public view page. Only the seller will know who the real bidder is.
