This member of the Apocynaceae family was given this name by N.E.Br. It is found in Southern Africa (Zimbabwe, Swaziland). Named after Mrs. Rose Monteiro, 1840, the wife of Joachim J. Monteiro, a Portuguese entomologist and naturalist; y collected plant in Angola and Mozambique.
