A MAGNIFICENT POSCHINGER VASE FOR GOEBEL
SIGNED ‘GOEBEL’ ON THE BOTTOM

- Mid 1980s, around 1985
- Iridescent (resembles some Loetz glass items from the 1930s)
- Moldblown crystal glass (art glass) with onlaid purple thread
- Signed (stencil) 'Goebel' on the bottom (see last image)
- Freeblown top rim with polished pontil
- Height : 145mm
- Weight : 1,120 kg
I imported this item from Germany a few years ago. It is in good condition with the usual age-related signs of wear on the bottom.
I am scaling down for retirement and with an indicative market value of around R1,500 this one is a bargain!

Glass from the mid-20th century is vintage glassware and age related signs of wear such as small fine surface scratches/marks should be expected. The items are hand-made, they may have imperfections such as bubbles, inclusions and lumps within the glass. Tool marks from where they have been shaped and worked in the manufacturing process can often be seen. As this indicates authenticity and forms an inherent part of the character of handmade glass, these are normally not considered as faults by collectors.

This magnificent item is a German hand-made art glass vase (and not Czech art glass, Italian Murano, Kosta Boda, Orrefors, Flygsfors, Leerdam, Val St Lambert, Swarovski or Lalique studio glass). I regrettably do not know whether or not this item is made of crystal glass.
