THE GEMSTONE TANZANITE
Tanzanite is the blue to violet gem variety of the mineral Zoisite.
The main appeal of Tanzanite is its lovely colour. Its colour ranges from pure blue to purplish-blue. It is highly pleochroic, and will display different colour saturation when viewed at different angles.
Tanzanite gemstones are always heat treated. All purple and blue varieties of the stone are the result of heat treatment.
The world's only source of Tanzanite is the Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania.
