Condition / Her-story:
This Beetle came to us in a Mint condition - haven't slept outside a garage for even 1 night in her life - so we were told and respected her preference when she came to live with us 8 months ago! The previous - and 1st owner - called her Melissa. Although we did not think to get a "Melissa", we respected this old lady and her heritage. She was sold to us by her 80-odd years old dad who are longer able to take her for a drive along the Cape Peninsula - not that she's not able to, but his journey with life made it impossible for him to take care of her.
We bought her as an alternative vehicle after a bad motorcycle experience, but soon realized that she was NO replacement. She offered so much more than just a safe drive. Our (now) 2 year old can't wait for "Volla" to start and to get in - there is something MAGICAL in the sound of her engine! Unfortunately we realized that it is not fair to the safety of our precious baby OR to the dignity of Melissa to modify the backseat to fit a baby-seat... With sadness we realized that it is time to let go of Melissa, as she too deserve a home where she can be herself - free to travel the open road with all her family safely inside!
Something you NEED to know about Melissa... One day we were drinking coffee at a friends Cafe, and someone reversed into her bumper and just drove off!!! The estimate cost to replace / repair is R1300...
