This DVD is part of an ongoing project initiated by the MOTH's, Mills Bomb Shellhole, Winkelspruit to capture the experiences of our SADF veterans on media for future generations. Each guest speaker share with the audience his time spent within the Armed Forces and relives certain battles & events.
Peter Williams
Peter joined the SADF in 1979 and spent a year at infantry School doing the Junior Leaders course. Thereafter he volunteered for 32 Battalion and worked in Delta Company under the command of Company Commander, Captain Juluis Kratz for two years.
He volunteered for service in 32 Battalion Reconnaissance Wing based at Omauni under the command of Captain Willem Ratte. Peter served 3 years in the Recce Wing before it was disbanded and then joined 1 SWA Reconnaissance Regiment under the command of Commandant Willie Snyders; there he served for another three years. During this time he also served with the infamous Chris Schulenburg from Rhodesia.
Peter was posted to CSI (Chief Staff Intelligence) at the Guerrilla School located at Saint Michel in the Eastern Caprivi; here he served a further 3 years under the command of ex OC 32 Bn - Colonel Jan Breytenbach. He was involved with the training of RENAMO (Resistance Movement of Mozambique). After the SADF withdrawal from SWA/Namibia, he served at CSI DST (Directorate Special Tasks) in Pretoria before being posted to 1 Reconnaissance Regiment in Durban for a further 2 years.
32 Battalion was commencing with internal operations and Peter returned to the unit to serve as Charlie Companies Commander and partook in several deployments within South Africa. After 32 Battalion was disbanded, he served his last years at Group 9 and 10 in Durban. He was one of the instructors of the National Peace Keeping Force and was honorably discharged in 1995.
