Ilias Lalaounis, a fourth generation goldsmith, opened shop in 1941 and became renowned for redefining classical Greek jewelry, using both classic and modern techniques. His vast clientele included Elizabeth Taylor and Jackie Kennedy Onassis, and a museum devoted to his jewelry and decorative arts opened in Athens in 2003.
The medallion is stamped Lalaounis Greece 925 ( sterling silver ) . The top appears to be a sheet of sterling silver and the base might be brass according to research
