Please view all photos to get an idea of overall condition. This
carpet is a Heriz. It is from the area of Heris East Azerbaijan which
is northeast Iran. It is thereby a tribal carpet. Heriz carpets are coarsely
woven with sometimes as few as 30 knots per square metre, They
can go to 100 knots per square but this would be a far more refined
piece. Often use geometric patterns with large medallions dominating
the field. This piece measures length approximately 155cm (basically has
no tassels) and the width is 93.5cm. I would regard it as small to
medium, so a nice piece for a smaller pad.
One side of the piece. The opposite end is more worn than this.
The carpet is wool. Age unknown. Possibly vintage.
Other side.
Reverse side of carpet
Needs new tassels
Central focal point. Has the traditional floral decor (often seen is
jutting branches ending in stylized palmettes, leaves or flowers)
Other side of piece. Please note it is my observation that the right
side was not replaced with tassels but was stitched. This particular
carpet had tassels on both sides. I would have both sides seen to
Close up of other side
Note one end. Can be sorted with rebinding etc
