Very good. In attractive contemporary green half leather binding, rebacked in leather by an experienced book restorer, incorporating original title panel. See photographs.. Maroon and gilt title label and gilt decorations on the raised bands of the spine. Two complete fold-out maps at the back by Arrowsmith of South Africa and Livingstone's route. Beautiful black and white folding plate opposite title page of Victoria Falls. All 45 illustrations are present, including a fold out map of geological zones and a frontispiece portrait of Livingstone under tissue paper, but one of the plates ( of Bakalahari Women) is in superior colour facsimile which has been tipped in by an expert book restorer. Marbled edges and endpapers. Attractive contemporary small bookplate of John Fyffe on the inside of the front board. The leaves are clean and unmarked and there is foxing only on the outer leaves and minor foxing on the larger map. The maps have minor wear including a couple of small closed tears. The binding is solid and tight.. See photos.
