Etzel FX is a range of more affordable South African products developed by a modeller for modellers. Don't look for expensive packaging or promotions, rather enjoy the cost-effective quality this makes possible.
Volume for volume it is a fifth the cost of imported modelling pigments.
A SOUTH AFRICAN MODELLER'S STORY
Since all scale model finishing products are imported, the rate of exchange makes this a luxury hobby in South Africa. I have been using these pigments (mostly locally mined rocks and minerals) on my models and dioramas for nearly three years. Prompted by friends I decided to offer them as a more affordable alternative.
NAMING OF PIGMENTS
Most military modellers are in the 45-plus age bracket, which means that there are a lot of "oumanne" out there who would recognize our training and operational area dust and soil colours. Of course these colours may well be used for Europe or other theatres of war, such as on my 2.2m long "17 May 1940" diorama (www.facebook.com/17May1940).
Handy Pigments set
This very handy set of four (x 60ml ea) pigments are ideal for optimizing effects on dioramas. It includes that elusive Moss Green. The latter should be stippled onto wet matt acrylic and left to dry to create that real moss look in small scales (up to 1:35)
