A limited edition biography (Number 610 of 1000) of well known South African Artist Gabriel de Jongh (6 April 1913 - 11 March 2004) by the author Patricia F Weckesser in association with John Contat and PJ Contat.

"Gabriel only commenced with his artistic career in earnest after completion of his schooling in 1930.  In his youth he had accompanied his father on his painting trips, where he had been taught valuable lessons in artistic techniques and was exposed to the distinctive landscape of the Cape.  But it was his period of painting under Tinus's supervision in 1031, and his apprenticeship at the Cape Times that provided him with the solid foundation on which to build an artistic career.  He was fortunate in having a father who encouraged him in that respect."
