SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS DVD - OUDTSHOORN-KNYSNA 1978

R180.00

It is July 1978 and we are at Oudtshoorn where, for 22 minutes, we watch GMAM power in and around Power Station and other spots on the Outeniqua Pass. Mostly GMAM's on the passenger with a few freight workings. Then it is on to the George- Knysna line for a few scenes of Class 24 3669. 26 minutes. We return to George - Knysna in April 1986 to follow various Class 24's, including 3669 filmed 8 years ago (in the previous scenes and still in pristine condition) working on this very scenic line.As the RSSA's Cape Venturer was in the area at this time we decided to follow this special, being headed by a Class 24 + GMAM, between Hartenbos and George. Then its back to the George - Knysna line for a few final scenes. 35 minutes.Total viewing time: 61 minutes.Price includes track and trace postage to South African addresses. The DVD will be posted to you within 10 days of receipt of payment. We will replace any faulty DVD with another of the same title upon receipt of the faulty DVD from the buyer. This DVD has been converted from Super 8 colour film with full dual track sound and commentary. This very rare film has been stored in a dark dry container for the past 30 or so years. It is still in mint condition and has only been brought out lately to make this DVD.The colour, clarity and sound quality is exceptional for 30 odd year old films. We have taken the greatest possible care to ensure that the conversion process from film to DVD was carried out with the least possible reduction in colour, clarity and sound quality. There are not many, if any, people that possess such a well documented record of such a wide range of motive power from the South African Railways of the past. These are not Hollywood productions so do not expect perfection. They are home made movies taken by one man who had the foresight to put what he saw and heard onto celluloid so that future generations could enjoy what he enjoyed most, watching and listening to South African steam trains in action. You will come across the odd shaky or out of focus scene but we have left these in for the sake of continuity. We trust that by having done this it will not affect your enjoyment. For those of you old enough to remember, enjoy watching and hearing what you used to see. For those of you too young to remember, enjoy watching and hearing what used to be
