ASUS’ Transformer Pad, a 10.1-inch convertible tablet, was a fantastic device when we last took a look at it, back in 2014. But it’s back, with a couple of minor updates, and it’s still as good as ever.
The ASUS Transformer Pad TF103CG-1A020A is the newer variant in the TF103CG product line. It carries with it a couple of upgrades, chief of which is the updated processor.
Intel are still supplying the silicon though, in the form of the Bay Trail Z3745. This is a 1.33GHz chip that works with the 1GB of system memory and 8GB of flash storage to produce quite the speedy response on the Android 4.4 operating system. Want more storage? Done, you can use a 64GB or lower microSD card in this Transformer Pad.
The 10.1-inch ASUS Transformer Pad TF103CG-1A020A features an LED-backlit display with a 1280 x 800 resolution. It’s not HD but then, this isn’t priced as though it was so that’s all good.
The ASUS Transformer Pad TF103CG-1A020A supports WiFi (b/g/n), Bluetooth, as well as 3G so you can cart along your own data if you feel like it.
There’s a 2MP rear and 0.3MP front camera. Just so you have them on hand in case Bigfoot stops past your back yard, they’re not really shining examples of camera tech. They’ll still capture images though and that’s what counts.
But there’s also a keyboard dock on the way for the ASUS Transformer Pad TF103CG-1A020A. This is a fairly new addition for here in SA and it turns this tablet into a true convertible notebook with very little effort. That’s reason enough to buy one.
