The item you will be bidding on is one of a limited edition series of 25 sculptures called BEE-EATERS on STICK by South-African artist LEONI NEEDHAM.

The item's cost is listed WITHOUT the base as the base weighs 8 pounds/4 kg and this will affect the shipping price.
The item listed can be purchased with the granite base. Without the base the item is lighter and shipment will be cheaper.  Please ask your local art gallery for an estimation of mounding the art on a base and compare the gallery price vs the shipment price.  If you want it with the base - I will create a listing with new weight etc.

Cost of granite base is not included in the price.  Cost will be $60 (ZAR equivalent) + extra shipping cost.

LOCATION: Johannesburg

BIRTHDAY: 29 October 1980

Leoni grew up in the beautiful Lowveld situated in Mpumalanga. The creative environment of her mothers' pottery studio stimulated Leoni and this is where she chose the discipline of sculpture at the early age of 6.  After graduating with an Associate Degree in Conservation Studies, Leoni started an apprenticeship at a small local artist-run art Foundry and a year later opened the doors to her gallery and foundry.

By 2013 - it had become one of South Africa’s largest and most revered bronze casting art foundries. One of it’s most recent and largest accomplishments - the 7 meter (almost 23 feet) tall bronze-casted statue of Nelson Mandela - now standing on Navel Hill in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

Leoni moved to Johannesburg permanentely in 2008 as most of the foundry clients where Gauteng based. 2013 saw the move from Foundry to her new business venture Sculptureinc.

"I am a Sculptor. What inspires me?  Simplicity to create as much with as little as possible.  I work in a re-usable oil based clay or in wax directly. This is not a permanent medium - a mould is made of the original sculpture and then cast in bronze.
