Does the extender not make the DOF razor thin?

Surely if u compare it to the 100mm usm macro, the dof will be a little less with the hexanon lens, extender combination because the hexanon lens will be 3.5mm further away from the Canon sensor due to the smaller registration distance of the Konica compared to the Canon EF system.(44mm viz 40.5mm).
The Konica extender plus hexanon lens will give you greater than 1:1 reproduction ratio or have you managed to reduce the extender by 3.5mm?
It is a pity the lens can't be mounted directly on to the Canon body. - Asked by Thunderwarrior (
)Compared to the canon 100mm usm macro , the dof will be exactly the same but the working distance from the sensor plane to the subject would be about half due to the shorter focal length of the Hexanon (55mm) Cheers! Danie

Hi correct , confirmed coverage of this lens is 11mm to 19mm (horizontal) translating to just over 1:1 to a max of almost 2:1 on canon apsc with sensor size 22,2mm x 14.8
