An Austrian Royal Vienna Art Nouveau Figure, possibly by Ernst Wahliss of a Young Girl ~ c1890s
An Austrian Royal Vienna Art Nouveau figure, possibly by Ernst Wahliss, +-41cm tall, modelled as a 'Mucha-style' maiden, her hair dressed with flowers, she wears full loosely wrapped robes and rests on a scrolling base embellished with chrysanthemums, in ivory and olive green tones with gilt detailing.
This exquisite figurine is done in the utmost detail, depicting a young maiden who should be studying, as she's pressing down with one hand on an open book, which seems to be adorned with the mark of the designer (not sure about this - it's not quite discernable). The other hand is holding her chin as if in wonder, with a shy upwards glance. The layer of cloth draping over one shoulder and hanging down the other with a sliver of gold thread holding it up over the shoulder. The dress is adorned with an exquisite array of small flowers, accentuated with gold. Her hair is in a loose bun behind her head, with a band of flowers over the top.
Exquisite finish of pastel colours ~ Blush, Ivory, Green and Gold. This piece is also done in the manner of Teplitz or Amphora.
Printed Crown Mark. Impressed "4343 & 409" and "Made In Austria", In Very Good Condition
