Sphagnum Peat Moss is used in horticulture because of its excellent physical and chemical properties. It is a natural, organic soil conditioner, with a unique structure that provides a good balance of water around plant roots for healthy plant growth. It can be used as a seed germinating medium, mixed into potting mixes and added into soil to bind sandy soil or loosen clay soil.

Benefits include:

• Can hold up to 20 times its dry weight in water. This water is then slowly released to the plants as needed.
• High in organic matter, which improves soil structure.
• Stores nutrients and reduces leaching of nutrients that are easily lost.
• Decomposes slowly, which means it lasts longer than regular compost.
• Contains up to 2.5% total nitrogen which is slow released.
• Can be used to improve soil, lawns, flower and vegetable gardens, trees and shrubs, and in indoor plants.
