Hardcover, 240 pages, Details in book: published by Longmans in 1968. Synopsis: This is the story of Lord Norwich travelling by Land Rover and camel some 2000 miles across the Sahara - out from Southern Algeria, through Republic of Niger to Chad and of how it nearly ended in tragedy. He has interwoven themes, thoughts and reflections that occured to him as he moved along. Both his lively text and through his and Costa's superb photographs, you will experience the world of constant variety, ranging from stark anti-landscapes to mountain ranges of 11 000 feet or more, a world where drinking-water freezes in its mug beside a natural hot bat, and a life based on medieval feudalism. Beautiful book for collectors. Looks like a first edition. Condition: Nice old, ex- ship's library copy, original library sticker inside, "olden times" writing inside, discolouration from age and storage, pages neat and intact, usual signs of aging, dust jacket plastic cover is torn but I will not remove in case I spoil the book.
