| DESCRIPTION | A really beautiful studio pottery display, floral arrangement display or ikebana vase. The vase dates from the 1960s /70s era and it is in the classic urn shape. It has a diameter of 16 cm at the widest point of the belly and stands 29 cm high. It weighs 2.24 kg. The outer area of the vase is riffled in a vertical wave pattern and is glazed in sea green and metallic black mottled glaze which has been dripped on from the top. The vase has thick walls of about 1cm. It is also internally glazed so that it can take water without the moisture going into the terracotta pottery. Underneath the vase is unglazed and shows fired red terracotta. You can see the item on offer here in the image above and 5 images which describe it further follow. Seen from the bottom . Note the fired terracotta pottery and the glaze dripping downward. The vase is ideal to hold a floral or an ikebana arrangement. This lovely vase, however, also looks great displayed by itself.
Seen from the top . The tip rim has a diameter of 4.5 cm.
The glazing is in mottled sea green and metalic black over a slightly coarse surface and a wavy vertical pattern.
Seen with a match box to give an indication of relative size. The vase stands 29 cm high.
